Have you gotten to christmas every year only to find that you haven’t enough time to make those adorable christmas cards. Are you so busy in the last few weeks that christmas cards are the last thing on your mind.

If you answered yes to these then join the club. I run stampastacks starting in July every year and I never make up those extras for myself, mind you my customers have at least 70 to send out to family and friends and there is no stress.

Well this year I have decided as my new years resolution I am going to be more organised and one of those things is to have my christmas cards made well before the 20th of December. Here is how I found this challenge on scs to make 10 christmas cards each month starting in January. Well I have my first 10 completed and its not even January yet.

Are you proud of me. This is the design I decided on its a case of the chocolate and mellow moss one I created earlier.

colours are ruby red, always artichoke and so saffron.

Hi to everyone from my little group. I love to look at everyones blogs and to get the special messages of encouragement from fellow bloggers. I look forward to seeing all of your work. My name is Kerri and I am a mum of 2, Sally 22 and carrying my new grandchild due in June 2008 and Craig 19 and never home except to shower and leave a mess. I have a hubby of 23 years and 2 puppy dogs or should I say wreckers. I am an SU demonstrator here in Australia and was number 16 in the top 25 last year. Won’t get in there ever again but it was lovely to receive such an accolade. I love what I do, have only been stamping for a bit over a year but by seeing what everyone else is doing it has helped in me finding my own style. I have recently begun participating in the challenges on SCS and hope to see all of your work there too.

Anyway thats enough about me except to say that its my birthday tomorrow. (LOL) Anyone that is interested in joining a group Sisterhood 8 is taking names now.

Technique Challenge Faux Wood December 26, 2007

This is a technique called Faux wood.

There are a few ways to do this one and I have now tried 2. This one here is using the pretty in pink, Close to cocoa and creamy caramel ink pads from Stampin’Up!

All you do for this is open up the stamp pads and start by dragging the lightest colour down your cardstock (remembering to only go one way) I started with pretty in pink then creamy caramel and then close to cocoa and used the Naturals Ivory cardstock.

Then all you do is rule some lines and add some dots for nails to make the floor boards.

Pretty cool huh. (let me know if you want a picture tutorial or is this easy to understand)

I have used the LONG-TIME FRIEND stamp set from the current summer mini catalogue which you can view online now.

There is a post from some time ago on here that uses the whisper white stamp pad and the close to cocoa.

I Love to view the overseas stamping blogs, especially the stampin’Up! demonstrators I have a long list of feeds that I check out every single day.

I love the photos you all have been putting up of the snow that is falling around you at the moment and thought that you might like to see what it’s like here at the moment in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

Its very dry and we are on stage 4 water restrictions as we are in a major drought at the moment and have been for a few years now. Stage 4 restrictions means we are not allowed to water our gardens, lawns, wash our cars, wash down anything at all, we are limited to very short showers and we use grey water from our showers and laundry to water anything we want to keep alive. We have a large water tank in our back yard to keep the vegie garden going although this year we didn’t plant anything because we have 2 lovely dogs who would dig it up.

well here are a few photos. This one is of my home and as you can see its very dry, we planted lots of grasses that didn’t need to be watered although these definately need to be cut back to keep the snakes out.

These next ones are of Lake Wendouree which is a 6km radius and was used for the 1956 olympic rowing. Its been drying up for the last few years and last year dried up completely. People were walking across it to the other side. During winter it filled up with quite a bit of water and I honestly thought there was heaps in it but within 4 weeks it was practically dry. This last week we have had some pretty strange weather so there is a bit more water in it now than there was 2 weeks ago.

december-pictures-1381.jpg

When I was younger this lake flowed over the roads during the winter time.

december-pictures-1391.jpg

As you can see from this photo the water should be at a much higher level. It was such a beautiful spot, its so sad to drive past it and see it the way that it is.

OH and by the way thought you might like to know that i took all these and many many more lovely photos with my new digital SLR Canon EOS4o0D that I got from Santa. Oh what a lovely santa he was this year.

My Stampin’Up! Demonstrator gave to me: A sneak peek at the christmas pressie for my mother in law.

Its so hard to buy for some people and every year we give her something she doesn’t really need. Well this year she is receiveing cash so she can put it towards all the other gift cards she receives. This little christmas card was so easy to make and is great for christmas or birthday.

directions are

  • Cut cardstock to 4-1/4″x11″
  • Score at 3″, 5-1/2″ and 8″
  • Fold in 1/2 and then fold the outside flaps backwards in toward the center.
  • using some DSP adhere the centre leaving an opening at the top or even at the side
  • using the slit punch cut an oval in the top
  • decorate (i have used the peaceful wishes set.)

My Stampin’Up! Demonstrator gave to me: Just a couple more christmas cards to see.

I don’t know about you but i am Sooooo over making christmas cards. I have made about 200 this year and these are the last of them. I forgot to give to the girls at work so I gave them the ones I had put together for my family and neighbors so I needed to make a few more.

This design uses the Only Ornaments wheel and the Many Merry Messages greeting. Colours are from the IN COLOUR range.

This is another of the HIGH HOPES images. I am giving this one to my two little nieces for christmas. Congrats to Robyn who receives the card from yesterday. when I put it together it looked like the american flag LOL so i added a little yellow on the riveting greeting.

My Stampin’Up! Demonstrator gave to me: A card to give to my loved ones on Christmas Day.

But maybe next Christmas. I think its a little late to try and get it into the mail before christmas but here it is anyway. I love these High Hopes Stamps they are so cute and if you like colouring then these are definately the way to go.

This Santa is so cute. I colored him with my Stampin Write Markers after stamping him onto Stampin’Up! Watercolour paper. Gave him a little glitter and a few brads to finish him off.

Here is a close up of the glitter on his coat and hat
